Ages & Weight Classes

Ages: Boys High School (8th-12th grade)

Weight Classes: 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190, 215, 285

Wrestling is at scratch weight. There will be no weight allowance

8th Graders: 8th graders may compete in the high school division.

Rules & Format

Dates: All wrestling will take place on Saturday, October 7.

Style: Folkstyle rules.  College out of bounds rules.

Brackets: Max 64 man – Double elimination brackets with wrestlebacks to 6th place

Period Duration: All boys high school matches will be 2-1.5-1.5  minute periods

Overtime: Overtime will be a 1 minute sudden death period. If neither wrestler scores it will be followed by a 30 second tiebreaker rideout (first wrestler to score in regulation gets to choose position).

Rest: Wrestlers will receive at least 15 minutes between matches.

Gear & Requirements

Headgear: Headgear is not required

Mouthguards: Wrestlers with braces must wear a mouthguard.

Weigh-in Attire: Participants must wear a singlet to weigh in.

Skin Check: A skin check will be performed during weigh in. Hair, facial hair, and nails must meet NFHS standards.

Awards

Awards: Top 6 wrestlers will receive awards in a 16+ person bracket.  Top 4 will receive awards in other double elimination brackets.  Top 2 will earn awards in all round robin brackets.  Champions also take home the mask.

Participation & Registration Limits

Registration Limitations: Registration is expected to reach capacity.  See division caps above.  Division caps may be adjusted to accommodate registration trends.

Ranked Athletes: At the discretion of the tournament committee, wrestlers ranked in the top 25 of a major tournament ranking, may be added to the event after registration closes. If this pertains to you please email joe@growrestling.org

Adjustments & Refunds

Weight Class Adjustments: You may adjust your weight after registration up to 10/5/23 at 11:55pm.  To do this, you must log back into your registration and make the change.  If a wrestler misses weight and needs to be bumped to the next division, there will be a $20 fee to make the change onsite.

Refunds: There will be no refunds on registration if a wrestler does not show up or cannot wrestle.

Substitutions: There will be no substitutions for a wrestler who cannot compete.

Weigh Ins

Sunday wrestlers may weigh in on Friday night at Staley high school or any of the Satellite sites.

Coaches Passes

Coaches passes will be available for $35 (good all weekend) and will grant access to the competition floor. You may purchase passes at the venue.

Spectators

Adults may purchase tickets for the event for $15 a day or $20 for both days. kids 12 and under are free.  This pass will allow for exiting and returning to the competition venue. A spectator pass will not grant entry to the competition floor or coaching seats. You may purchase passes at the venue.
