Tuesday March 5
5:00 PM – Teams arrive, pick up gear, and take team photo

5:30 PM – Doors open to public

5:30 PM – Team Warmup (first team to arrive in full)

There will be a 15 minute intermission after the 7th match.

There are several parking lots available for the metro classic (see map below).  There will be one entrance to access Mabee field house.  It is also shown on the map and is adjacent to the baseball field.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased from team members or at the door. Ages 12 & Under are FREE.

You can watch the event live at www.rokfin.com/growrestling.  To watch there is a $15 subscription fee.  The subscription gains you access to a plethora of live event streams, wrestling content, and rankings on top of the Metro Classic live stream.  If you are already a subscriber, you will not be charged.

Welcome to the Kansas City Metro Classic.  A battle between Missouri and Kansas.  This all star event showcases the top seniors from the Kansas City area to square off for metro bragging rights.  Avila University hosts the event and is filled with wrestling’s finest fans.  The metro classic takes place 10 days after the competition of the Missouri and Kansas State Tournaments.  Lineups are created after each state tournament and are filled with hammers prepared to defend their turf.  The first ever Metro Classic was held in 1992.  Currently, Missouri leads the series 20-10.  Total team points throughout the history of the event sits at 882 for The Show Me State to 702 for the Sunflower State.  Missouri, the defending champs, took the win in last years event by a score of 40-18.

The list of participants who have competed in the Metro Classic is impressive.  Many Metro Classic competitors moved on to make serious noise in the NCAA as well as the international scene.  NCAA D1 All Americans include: Kevin Stanley, Zach Roberson, Bobbe Lowe, Shawn Bunch, Tyler Grayson, Louis Caputo, Mark Ellis, Dom Bradley , Nathan McCormick, Alan Waters, Cody Brewer, Grant Leeth, and Daniel Lewis.  Those in bold are NCAA Champions.  Lets make sure and also mention that Dom Bradley is a Junior World Champion.  Below are all time Metro team scores.
